| Abstract | This study investigates the socio-economic determinants of health status and disease prevalence among the households in Jashpur District, Chhattisgarh state. Recognizing that health outcomes are heavily influenced by factors beyond healthcare services. This research paper examines how income, education, occupation, housing quality, sanitation and clean water access impact community health. Jashpur, characterized by a high tribal population and a rugged geography, faces unique socio-economic challenges that exacerbate vulnerabilities to both communicable and non-communicable diseases. A cross-sectional survey was conducted across selected rural households using structured questionnaires, focus group discussions and health indicators. The findings reveal a strong correlation between low literacy rates, low household income and a higher prevalence of waterborne illnesses, malnutrition & respiratory infections. The study highlights that improving health status in Jashpur District requires a holistic approach that goes beyond medical interventions. Targeted policies must focus on enhancing female literacy, generating sustainable livelihoods, improving clean water infrastructure and strengthening primary healthcare accessibility. |
